Meat and poultry processing has responsible for industry growth that has provided many communities with robust economic activity, millions of jobs and a legacy of accomplishment and progress.
Overall, the meat industry—from ranchers and farmers who settled the frontier to packers and processors whose growth paralleled that of America’s cities—is integral to American history.
The MEAT INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME®.was created to be a repository of that history and a shrine to the leaders and legends whose vision, skill and dedication shaped and sustained the meat industry as the leading sector of food production.
ABOUT THE HALL
As a non-profit educational organization, the MEAT INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME is dedicated to:
• Honoring distinguished individuals in the U.S. meat, poultry and livestock industry
• Preserving the history of more than a century-and-a-half of progress
• Educating the consuming public about the contributions of industry leadership
The Hall showcases the best and brightest people in business, research and services related to:
• Genetic research and livestock breeding
• Animal husbandry
• Production agriculture
• Meatpacking and poultry processing
• Meat and poultry product R&D
• Marketing and advertising related to meat products
• Equipment manufacturing, professional services and new product R&D
• Media and public relations related to the industries noted above
THE CHARTER CLASS OF 2009
The inaugural class of inductees will be honored with admission to the MEAT INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME as the Charter Class of 2009. The inductees will include a special group of industry legends whose careers spanned the late 19th century and early 20th century, men and women who helped shape the direction of the industry and contributed significantly to its growth and success.
Members of the Charter Class of 2009 will be recognized as both outstanding business stewards and dedicated contributors to the communities where they lived and operated their organizations. They will be officially inducted in October 2009 at a special ceremony featuring the inductees and invited guests. All members (or their families or heirs) will be honored with:
• A tribute posted on our official website (www.meatindustryhalloffame.com)
• A commemorative plaque to be displayed in the MEAT INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME’S eventual home
• An members-only blazer with the exclusive “signature” crest
